The ‘Theme’ Verse - 2nd Corinthians 9: 10 - 15

He who supplies seed to the Sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing  and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others,

while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

When the Lord called me to begin a different direction in ministry, He gave me this verse. In it the calling didn’t change but the direction certainly did. These verses became the theme verses for what is now Dennis Parish Ministries/The Lone Star Pastor Care Network. What I see in these verses-

Verse 10

The sower is dependent on the supplier!

God calls us to sow but we must be dependent on the seed. The quality, the quantity, the source, and the timing. If we substitute seed or seek to alter the plan, we fail the supplier and we shouldn’t expect the intended harvest. The same amount of work but a failed crop!

Verse 11

The sower will be used to bring a bountiful harvest!

However, the blessings of the bounty go to the supplier not the sower. Both the sower and the receiver give many thanks to the giver–God!

Verse 12

The sower’s service from the supplier brings abundant blessings.

The blessings are from God but both are abundantly blessed.

Verse 13

The sower’s submitted service gives evidence of God’s power.

The submission through the gospel of Jesus, the submission of liberality in serving, The submission of liberality in giving.
